Dear Family and Friends,
CHANGE!
Are you hearing a lot about change? What
in the world does “change” mean? The
dictionary says it means to “alter” or
“rework.” That can be for better or for
worse. Sometimes change is very hard.
Sometimes it is very easy. Some like it.
Some do not.
Change is taking place around us all the
time. Technology has begun to make Sue
and me feel very old- fashioned. A
little technology we have mastered,
somewhat, but some of it is so far
beyond us that by the time we learn it,
it is obsolete. If we need to know
something about technology, we ask the
young.
Many changes are taking place in our own
lives. We are traveling overseas less
but ministering in the States much more.
It is good to minister in English
without needing an interpreter (at least
in some places they understand us). Some
look at us a little funny. Our accents
are (especially Sue’s) are,
well...different.
Our extended family is making a lot of
changes. Grandchildren are scattering
around the U.S., studying, working,
ministering - all seeking God for
guidance. In the very near future, a new
baby will be added through adoption, to
our list of precious grandchildren.
Thank you for praying for our family.
MORE
CHANGES: Sue and I are
seeing big changes in our ministry. We
are doing a lot more personal
discipleship. God knew how gasoline
prices, etc. were going to rise to
unreasonable prices and He began to move
us into more local ministry a year or so
ago. We love teaching and training the
younger generation to get motivated and
get the True gospel out and see God
confirm His word with signs following
(Mark 16:20). There is so much dangerous
religion being taught right now - New
Age, Scientology, etc., that we must
know what the Truth (Bible) says and
abide by it. Revival is breaking out in
various places and we want to teach and
train others to be in the flow of it and
know the true from the false. We will be
moving our office from our house to the
new building before long. It will be a
good place to work, meet, counsel, and
pray.
We met a whole new group of “Jesus
seekers” recently. We attended a
gathering in our neighborhood of
like-minded people, hungry for a mighty
move of God (we didn’t even know they
existed in our neighborhood). It was a
first time gathering, bringing people
from various places. Two other couples
actually live on our street. How
exciting to meet other spiritually
hungry neighbors. It’s a prayer answer.
We will see big changes in our
Government before long. America will
elect a new U.S. President in November.
Regardless of who is elected, we will
see changes. That’s normal. Will they be
good changes? Will they be bad ones?
Will we have more freedom or will we
continue to lose the freedoms we have
now? Either America will pray and obey,
or not pray (and obey) and vote
according to her own likes or dislikes.
That will decide. God will let us have
what we want and demand. He has given us
a free will and He will allow our will
to choose though it may not be His Will.
That’s the uniqueness of Christianity.
Thank you for the prayers for our
eight-year old grandson, Christopher,
who, was diagnosed with Asperger’s
Syndrome (high-end autism) several years
ago. We just completed a whole month of
designated “Prayer against Autism and
for the Autistic”. Christopher is doing
better, more connected and relaxed.
Thank you, again. On another note, our
neighbor, Don, is still doing fine. He
has a delightful personality and has
really loosened up. He is smiling more,
even laughing at his own jokes.
Two weeks ago, Sue and I were in
Houston, an exciting city, but we are
always glad to return to our little town
with a population of 10,000 (approx.)
very smart people who like a slower pace
of life with just 6 traffic lights
within the city limits. Yesterday we
returned from a weekend meeting in
another city. It was a great meeting and
God’s manifested presence was there.
Change was evident as people were prayed
for.
Our office/storage/prayer room/meeting
building is moving forward. Relying on
volunteer help, and our project manager
(nephew) being sent to manage a job in
Oklahoma, has slowed it down but it is
still progressing. Sue and I know so
little about the construction business
that we are not qualified to manage much
of the project but there is a great deal
we can do; filling holes, paint,
sanding, hammering, but not actually
building the structure. It is being
built to city code so everything has to
be done correctly. The structural part
is pretty well finished but there is
still a lot of other work to be done.
Pray for us.
OPPORTUNITY:
We have run into a problem in the
drainage part of our property. The
property adjoining the back of ours is
at least 16” higher than ours. There is
a retaining fence but it will not turn
away water. From there, the land slopes
to about a six-inch gap at the back of
our building. The city tells us we have
to dig trenches, maybe do a French-drain
or something to divert water away from
our building. We are unsure of how to do
that properly. None of our volunteer
help is experienced in that area or
confident enough to tackle the job. We
can attempt it but it must be done
correctly. If any of you are experts in
that field, please help us with what you
know. It is an expense we had not
figured into the budget but if it is
required, we know God will provide for
it. We may have to hire someone but we
will try our best to avoid that expense
if at all possible. If you would like to
help in any way, with any phase of the
building, it would be so welcomed. The
air conditioning will be added soon
(this is TX).
Remember, every donation to Truth and
Life Ministries is completely tax
deductible. It is a blessing not all
nations are privileged to partake of.
Let’s keep thanking God for that
blessing.
YOUR HELP:
Since we have been to the Province where
the recent, devastating earthquake took
place in China – lecturing in one of
their universities - our first reaction
was to “Go”. We’ve often said, “When
people get desperate, they get radical.”
It’s true, when people are in crisis;
they seek a savior for help. That savior
could be a Buddha god, Hindu god, Allah,
the Muslim god or some other god of this
world. We have the only real answer.
Jesus. We prayed and realized, though we
could be of great comfort, we could do
little else. Since it would be totally
impractical for us to go, not speaking
the language, etc., we knew we might be
more of a hindrance to the rescue and
recovery than help. Something we can do
is pray and send financial relief to
help the missionaries that are already
there, and rally others to do the same.
Together, you and we are doing just
that. We are asking the True God, Jesus,
to reveal Himself to the people.
We love you and thank you so much for
seeing our ministry as worthy. A portion
of your contributions will continue
feeding and teaching the needy Gypsies
in Macedonia. They are also helping
Christian pastors who are living in
Myanmar (formerly Burma) as they help
with the recovery there. Pray for them.
Proverbs 19:17, “If you help the poor,
you are lending to the LORD - and He
will repay you!” We have a faithful God.
Never forget that you are a Champion in
the Lord. Champions do not quit in the
face of adversity. They train for the
battle, stay ready and when it comes,
they stand up to the challenge. We are
Champions. Read 2 Corinthians 2
Our
love, thanks and blessings,
Tom and Sue
